GIVING CARE. TAKING CARE.
___________________________________________________________________

This is a special workshop program on how to care for an older loved one at home.

This workshop program is especially for family caregivers who want to enhance their skills and abilities to provide care and who want to learn about resources and services that might make their tasks a little easier. It was designed by caring health care and social services professionals and, above all, caregivers who know how it is to have an elderly loved one at home.

Whom Does This Program Help?

To help decide if Giving Care. Taking Care. is the right program for you, ask yourselves these questions:

* Do you care for an older friend or relative who is age 60 or older in your home?

* Would you like to learn practical skills for providing the best possible care and ensuring

   your loved one's safety?

* Do you need help on handling the stress and breaking out of the isolation that you

   sometimes feel?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then you can probably benefit from this program.

What Are Some Of the Topics?

* Home Safety

* Body Mechanics (how to safely transfer the patient)

* Nutrition

* Communicating

* Breaking Out of Isolation

* Personal Care

* Moving Patients

* What to Ask the Doctor

* Preventing Caregiver Burnout

* Resources in Delaware
